Reverence

“Reverence” refers to the mind that accepts all people and beings in this world as they are, honors and cherishes their irreplaceable value, and is the fundamental state of the mind when studying and living according to the Study of the Soul.
According to the dictionary, “reverence” means “to revere and respect something sublime or a great person.” In contrast, “reverence” in the Study of the Soul refers to the basic premise of the mind when studying and living according to the Study of the Soul.
Each and everything that exists in this world and the universe, including humans, is imbued with an irreplaceable uniqueness that we cannot create. The beauty and peace of the flowers that bloom in the fields and the birds that fly in the sky, the meanings that are entrusted to events and encounters, and the dignity within each person’s existence. All are beyond the capacity of human thoughts and are filled with unfathomable wonder. A mind that accepts the sacredness of these things as they are with awe and respect epitomizes “reverence.”
“Reverence” means recognizing our own immaturity and shortcomings, accepting that each person we encounter has an irreplaceable life story, and it is a mind that honors and cherishes the uniqueness of their existence while acknowledging that within them lies the individuality and potential of their soul.
Furthermore, “reverence” also refers to the feelings and attitude toward the universe and nature, which are filled with irreplaceable beings. In other words, it means awe and reverence for the Great Existence that supports and connects all the people and events we encounter in this world.
