So then, everyone, do you not agree that the most important mission of religion is to reveal the special nature of this soul that transcends matter, to guide the soul to fulfill its work in this world, in this Phenomenal World ?
And yet, right now, numerous religions appear mired in circumstances that prevent them from fulfilling this mission. They seem to mistakenly believe that their role is to protect their churches, temples and other historical buildings, to protect their legacy, religious rites and to carry out funerals and other such ceremonies.
GLA’s mission over the past 50 years has been to revive a view of humanity that is based on the soul, to pursue the Study of the Soul, and to practice its teachings together with all of you.
What kind of existence, then, is that of the human soul?
One of the functions of the soul is that of the aspiration and vision to be found within all of us. The vision of the soul is not the kind of aspiration that is limited to a specific purpose or random idea, or a vision that draws on whatever trend is sweeping through the world at any given time. The mission of the soul is quite different from that.
The vision of the soul is something born and fostered within the endless circle of transmigration, of birth, death, and rebirth. Burdened by an unfulfilled previous life, the soul aspires with each new life to never again repeat the failures of the past, to fulfill at last, this time, its true mission. This aspiration goes beyond the repeating history of transmigration and is something that is created within us over an extraordinary length of time.
We also carry within us, in our promise with heaven, the vision and aspiration of our creator, the Great Existence, and the mission assigned to each of us is to realize that vision.
It may also be, that this vision, this aspiration, is deeply related to our ability to solve the troubles of each era of our times. This vision may well be something that can contribute to the happiness of many, many people. The vision born of one person’s soul carries beyond that individual and can be shared with the times and the world. This purpose, this aspiration and vision, is born of our history of transmigration, of our promise made with the Great Existence, and of the world and our times.
So, you see, each and every one of you carries this vision within you. This great aspiration, what we call the Great Ambition, of the soul is within each person.
Now then, the second function of the soul is to realize this inner vision, this aspiration, in the outside world, in the world of reality, in the phenomenal world. How to do this? The aspiration of our soul pushes its way into our mind, which has the capacity to bring it forth as reality into this world. This is why we have the five senses.
