The soul that is trapped in the Cave of Karmic Destiny, is caught in the depths of the ocean where sunlight does not reach. We need to guide that soul up from the deep sea to the light of day. To raise a sunken ship or treasure from the ocean floor is called salvaging. I’m sure you have heard the term before.

Now please look here. See how the sun glitters on the sea. Deep below, however, where no sunlight can penetrate is a sunken ship. Perhaps it was shipwrecked by a storm. We must salvage this ship and pull it up through the waters to the where the sun shines above.

It is the same when we speak of the soul. We need to salvage our soul from the depths of the Cave of Karmic Destiny.

What is the support, what is the lifeline that the soul needs to be salvaged from the Cave of Karmic Destiny? Do you recall what I talked about at the Zenyu Gathering? I said something very important.

What I said was, “The soul is our link to the Great Existence.”

The soul does not exist inside matter or things. The soul is inside us. And this soul is our link to the Great Existence. The Great Existence is the maker of this universe. As we sweep our gaze around the earth, we see animals, plants, ores and minerals with diverse shapes and forms, that exist interdependently. When we look inside our bodies, we see our internal organs. These organs are mutually interdependent and work together to keep us alive. Look deeper and we find cells, atoms and molecules, and nuclei.

From macro universe to micro universe, there is throughout a transparent order and regularity that is the Great Existence. And this Great Existence is linked to us by none other than our soul. If you recall, I spoke of this before. The very fact that we have a soul means that we are connected to the Great Existence.

The Great Existence, which gave birth to the world, is the lifeline to heaven that will pull us out of the Cave of Karmic Destiny. Within the Map of Life are the realms of the Cave of Karmic Destiny, the Reversal of Destiny, and the Horizon of Mission. We are salvaged by our soul’s connection to the Great Existence which pulls us through the darkness from the Cave of Karmic Destiny to the Reversal of Destiny and the Horizon of Mission. These are, as well, the levels of awakening of our consciousness that are measured by the intensity of the light of God at each level.

Think of the Big Cross. I spoke before that the vertical beam of the Big Cross is our connection to the Great Existence. You already know about this. Starting at the Cave of Karmic Destiny, the realm of blindness, we are made to open our eyes, and progress to the level of “grasping our mind by our mind.” We then move up the levels of conscious awakening, the Nine Stages of Enlightenment. At each level the light of God becomes more intense. What we can see, what we can feel, and the path we can choose, all change. This is how we are salvaged and drawn up from the depths, through our soul’s connection with the Great Existence.
