To Practice the Principle

Keiko Takahashi

To Draw Forth the Power of the Principle

When the Geocentric theory was once believed to be correct, doubts toward the Heliocentric theory were presented by examples such as the following:

“Why can birds fly in the sky and not be left behind by the movement of the earth?” and “Why can stones be thrown straight up and fall to their original positions, without being affected by the movement of the earth?” These were considered to be proof that the earth was not moving.

Today, anyone who knows the laws of science will shatter these opinions by saying, “It is because the laws of gravity and inertia are at work, and these examples are not proof that the earth is not moving.” It is the same as landing on our original position when we jump straight up on a moving train.

Even though people in the past could not understand it in this way, they lived and carried on with their lives under the same consistent laws as today.

In other words, we humans are acted upon by the laws that work on the earth without knowing the principles by which they affect us.

If we can understand the laws and the principle, however, we will be able to perceive their influences in a deeper and more certain way.

The laws that work in our world are not something visible. It can be said that human beings have gained an unwavering trust in science by its revelation of such invisible principles and making the power of the principles manifest.

However, if we are asked if science is the only thing that brings forth the power of invisible principle, it is not the case.

An Invisible “Power of the Principle”

We must consider the providence of the universe and nature, and the laws of life.

The Study of the Soul*1 contains many principles and laws that are invisible but presents them in a form we can understand. The system of the Divine Truth is common to all principles and providence; specifically, it is prepared for us so that we, as humans, can achieve our goals and mission as souls that harbor eternal life.

For example, the law of the Three Streams of Influence is the most basic and fundamental Divine Truth when we think about our life as souls that harbor eternal life. While we humans harbor the essence of light and darkness of the soul as our Soul’s Aspiration*2 and Karma*3, we create our mind and way of life, based on the conditions of the Three Streams of Influence: an influence from our parents (family), an influence from the community and industry (place), and an influence from the times (era).

It is no exaggeration to say that when one can understand the effects of these conditions and can truly relativize them, one has obtained the power to create a life as a soul.

This Divine Truth is important to everyone.

Nevertheless, for those who hear it for the first time, it may be difficult to understand the power of this principle. Many people may think, “The Three Streams of Influence? Oh, it’s the conditions of life. I see.” This is about as far as it will go.

To truly realize the power of the Divine Truth, it is not sufficient to merely attain it as knowledge. It is only when we actually live based on the Divine Truth that its power becomes apparent to us.

Only Practice Can Verify the Power of Omnipresent Principle

To truly verify the power of the Divine Truth, we must put it into practice ourselves.

We must continue to practice the Divine Truth in our daily lives, under specific themes, and in the context of human relationships in our reality.

In terms of the law of Three Streams of Influence, while we are given the power to live by its conditions, simultaneously we are bound by them and bear many impediments as a result of these. The deeper this realization, the freer we become from the constraints of the Three Streams of Influence. Then we are able to find what is important through the sense of the soul that lies deep within us.

It will become a visible verification of the power of the law of Three Streams of Influence that prevails in all human lives, no matter what country we are born into. From this proof, our life’s journey should follow the way of life of a soul.

This month, I would like you to join me in reflecting on the inexpressible importance of practicing the Divine Truth. We must remember that it is only through practice that the true value of the Divine Truth can be verified.

Editor’s Note

1. Study of the Soul

The Study of the Soul is a system of theory and practice in which we seek a way of life by connecting the visible and invisible dimensions. In contrast to the study of phenomena, which science represents by dealing with the materialistic dimension, the Study of the Soul goes beyond that, dealing comprehensively with the materialistic dimension and the invisible dimension of the mind and soul. This is a principle that I have discovered from intensive studies of human beings and the individual life journeys of the many people whom I have met. By looking at the soul, mind, and reality as a whole, we observe human beings and hope to respond to every possible occasion. (Excerpt from p.40 of How to Make Your Life the Best by Keiko Takahashi)

2. Soul’s Aspiration

It is the aspiration of the soul and the energy of light that the soul wants to fulfill at all costs. It is a vision concealed in the soul, that is the “energy of will possessing wisdom.” It can also be said to be the true entity of the soul. (Excerpt from p.144 of How to Solve the Equation of Destiny by Keiko Takahashi, available only in Japanese)

3. Karma

It is the distortions, immaturity, and weaknesses of the soul, as well as the force that prevents the soul from living its aspiration. (Excerpt from p.65 of How to Solve the Equation of Destiny by Keiko Takahashi, available only in Japanese)
